We develop a network of protected areas with wilderness character. These protected areas are certified based on our criteria system including principles for wilderness protection and sustainable tourism. We support these areas in improving their wilderness management including sustainable tourism development and promote them as the best of Europe’s wilderness.

... with local business partners

PAN Parks works in close partnership not only with protected areas but also with local businesses in and around certified PAN Parks. We certify these businesses according to environmental criteria and their commitment to wilderness protection. We promote these businesses, provide trainings on branding and tourism for them and provide opportunity for expertise exchange in a network. By helping them realize the tangible benefits from operating their business near a wilderness area they can become ambassadors of wilderness educating their clients about the value of wilderness and how important it is to preserve these natural values.

... with international tour operators

We are building a network of carefully selected tour operators to help us promote high-quality wilderness based tourism products in certified PAN Parks. The tour operators we work with offer nature based tours or activities which are consistent with the PAN Parks concept, provide trips to small size groups, committed to sustainable tourism and operate in a sustainable way. We link them with carefully selected incoming tour operators and help them in the product development. International tour operators try to include as many services of our certified local business partners as possible in their products. The tours they develop in co-operation with us are based in the parks or in the so-called PAN Parks regions around the parks.

... with NGOs

Protecting Europe’s wilderness is an immense challenge, it is only possible if we manage to build partnerships with NGOs. We work together in projects in the field in our member areas, develop professional publications and organise events together in order to raise awareness of Europe’s wilderness.

... with the corporate sector?

We provide opportunities for companies to support wilderness protection in various ways: hands-on activities in the field, incentive travel and support of the Foundation and field projects in certified PAN Parks.
